THE SENTINEL – The Trilogy is Complete! And Collected!

I give you: THE SORT OF DRAMATIC, MOSTLY FRUSTRATING TALE OF HOW THE SENTINEL TRILOGY CAME TO BE.

Amazon’s Pretty Cover

Ten-ish years ago, I had a idea for a trilogy of novels that ticked all the boxes for me. A snarky lead, elements from Viking lore, nasty monsters, and an intellect being behind it all. I wrote THE SENTINEL and self-published it under the pen name, Jeremy Bishop, as a follow up to TORMENT. It did great and caught the attention of Amazon, who was having great success with their new novel imprints. They wanted to publish THE SENTINEL and its sequel THE RAVEN, and if sales justified it, the third book, THE HOST.

At this point in time, Amazon was unabashedly using their influence and knowledge of the algorithms’ inner workings to ensure a good number of their books either sold really well, or became breakout hits. It was a no-brainer. I wrote the second novel and we were off to the races.

And then…the covers, for which I was not consulted.

The Original Cover

The original SENTINEL cover was cold, mysterious, and leaned heavily on the Viking story elements. The new cover…well, it looked like a historical romance. Even the title font was swirly and pretty. Basically the complete opposite of the story itself!

And then it came out… Let’s just say, my self-published version sold better (as usual). Now, I knew the book was good. The people who got the original edition loved it. Jane Harper was one of the first sarcastic funny characters I wrote in first person, which has become a staple in my books. I always believed it deserved to be finished, BUT Amazon had the rights, and despite poor sales, they didn’t want to give up them up. SO, I had to wait about a decade to get them back. Kane and I celebrated the return of these coveted rights, and I then, FINALLY, set to work on THE HOST.

When I re-read the books, it was like visiting an old friend. Jane’s voice was still there in my mind, just waiting to return. Writing THE HOST was a blast, and the trilogy now has the ending it deserves. Not only that, but we get to release all three volumes as one gigundus book, making them easier to read and cheaper to buy. We did this with THE LAST HUNTER and HUNGER, both of which were hits in their mega large formats. The story is complete. The cover’s tone fits the story and captures the novel’s strangeness. And I can’t wait to hear what you all think. All is right in the world, or at least this small part of it. 🙂 On to the book!

THE SENTINEL

Imagine a parasite capable of sustaining and controlling any mammal–people, bears, WHALES. On the surface, you might call those living dead “zombies.” That…would be a mistake.

The Vikings called them Draugr–closer to the truth, but their lore is incomplete. Don’t let mankind’s feeble attempt at labeling the Draugr fool you. These…things are far more complex, nefarious, and ambitious than any zombie ever has been.

AUDIOBOOK:

The new format benefits you listeners the most. This series would have cost three credits broken up, but now you can snag them all for a single credit! If you’re one of the few people who bought an earlier edition in audio, you’re still paying the same amount for the complete story. Noice! Also, the narration is all new, and the narrator, Eva Kaminsky, does a fantastic job bring Jane Harper to life. She stood out during auditions and delivered the goods!

Contains all three books: The Sentinel, The Raven, and The Host.

The Complete Trilogy Cover! Huzzah!

In the icy darkness of the Arctic Ocean, a violent showdown between ruthless whale hunters and fervent environmentalists ends in explosive catastrophe: both ships sinking into the frigid abyss. Marooned on a desolate island, the survivors, now bitter enemies, are forced into an uneasy truce to withstand the merciless cold. Enter Jane Harper: undercover agent, razor-sharp, and unflinching, wielding her wit as deftly as her fists. As she rallies the fractured group, they stumble upon ancient Viking ruins and awaken something primal and terrifying.

Deep beneath the frozen ground, the Draugar stir. Undying Vikings walk the Earth again, controlled by hive-mind parasites connected by three sinister queens. Capable of subjugating and preserving all mammalian life, they see the world through ambitious eyes, spreading to any creature they can find—bears, whales, and even people.

With time slipping away and the body count climbing, Jane must unravel the mystery of these parasites—whose origins may lie beyond the stars—and confront an unimaginable horror that transcends death itself. She fights not just for survival, but to prevent an unspeakable menace from consuming the world.

With The Sentinel, #1 Audible and New York Times bestselling author Jeremy Robinson unlocks his demented mind, claws into the dark recesses of his imagination, and plucks out a tale of horror, humor, science fiction, and heart, that will keep you listening even as the dead pile up.

Remember that pizza place you loved growing up? For me, it was Maria’s Pizza in downtown Beverly, and they’re still there! Imagine that you’ve gone back to that pizza place. Looks the same. Smells the same. You’re salivating before you can even order. I am, just thinking about it. You get your pizza, drive it home and then–life gets in the way. A pet emergency. A child suddenly needing to make a diorama. Montezuma rises from the depths of Taco Tuesday to exact his hot, spicy vengeance. Point is, that pizza you were looking forward to so much? It’s in the fridge, cooling off, waiting…congealing. For what feels like forever, you put out the fires of life. Through the night. Through the following day, until finally, the next night…you’re alone. You reheat that pizza–as you did a hundred times when you were young–bust out the root beer, and finally, ecstatically take a bite. THIS is the journey of KINGDOM, except the single day of life’s assaults was stretched out for years. But, the end has come. KINGDOM is here, reheated and ready for you to consume! Let’s get into it!

KINGDOM

The entire Jack Sigler series was born out of a strange confluence of events. At the time, I’d self-published THE DIDYMUS CONTINGENCY, RAISING THE PAST, and ANTARKTOS RISING. The editor at St. Martin’s Press, Peter Wolverton, noticed ANTARKTOS on Amazon, loved the cover (my design) and bought a copy. He loved the book and contacted me. The offer boiled down to this: “Can you write something just like this (action, military, monsters), but don’t mention religion?” I said yes, and delivered….INSTINCT.

That’s right, PULSE wasn’t the original Book 1.

The editor wanted a smoother launch for the team, and since I had killed both Knight and Bishop in that first version of INSTINCT, I needed to come up with a story where that wasn’t a possibility. The solution came from a movie script I’d written a few years earlier, titled HYDRA. It was the first screenplay I’d ever written and featured George Pierce as the main character. I retained a lot of that original story, including George, and made it part of PULSE, which became Book 1 and launched what would become my longest series. KINGDOM bookends the series with just as much action, monsters, and intrigue as that first book, and I’m proud of what the series has become–bigger than me. While I wrote those first three novels on my own, I was joined by Kane Gilmour and Sean Ellis for the rest of the novels, along with Kent Holloway, David Wood, Edward G. Talbot, David McAfee, and Ethan Cross. This series has been running for nearly as long as my career, and while I’m sad to see it end, it’s a worthy ending that is both…brutal…and like that trip back home for your favorite pizza. Enjoy the last slice, my friends!

POINT NEMO by Jeremy Robinson – Visit for the mystery. Stay…because you’re probably dead.

POINT NEMO is a very different kind of book, and I’m not just saying that in a ‘toot your own horn’ kind of way. I mean for me personally. Typically, I jump right into a story and let it evolve as I write. POINT NEMO is different because the first twelve drafts of this story were a screenplay. I had amazing input from my manager, Jeffrey Belkin, and from Amanda Lewis at Original Film (producers of the Project Nemesis TV series). Their notes helped refine this story, adding twists and turns, unique perspectives, and nefarious ideas. So, when I started writing the novel, I had a detailed 120-page outline to follow. As a result, if the screenplay defies the odds and gets made as a movie, no one will be able to complain that they’re too different. Every scene that should be in the movie is in the book.

And I’m thrilled with the result of this collaborative effort. It took three years of writing and editing to get it to you, and as a result, I’m both sick of it, and very proud of the final product. It’s a thrilling story overflowing with science, bizarre creatures, a unique setting, and wonderful characters I still care about, and I think you will, too.

The Goddess of Vengeance is never far from my mind. Between the continuing stream of amazing fan art and the impending TV series, the big girl won’t let me avert my gaze for long. The result is that I started wondering what the world might have been like if Nemesis had been a part of it since she first emerged thirteen years ago. Nemesis is the answer. It is a dark, action-packed, and humorous story where sacrifice is part of every day life. I’m thrilled with how this novel came out, hope it gets a movie adaptation someday, and can’t wait to hear what you all think of it. Be sure to post a review and help Nemesis take the book world by storm. Then I’ll get to write another one!
