Dogs. What can I say about them? Historically, a lot. They have played a major role from the beginning of my life until now, nearly 50 years later. They have comforted me in my darkest hours. They have wrestled, chased, and fetched and scared the shit out of us.

1984 – Buddy boy Paisley Robinson fell through the ice on a frozen pool. My brothers, our friends, and I were sledding in the Flynn’s backyard. The owner of the pool poked her head up over the fence and said, “I think your dog is in our pool.” We ran around and saw Buddy struggling to stay up in the frigid water. Happily, we rescued him from the pool, carried him up the hill on a makeshift stretcher (a sled), and got him in the station wagon before all nine of us piled in and drove him, through a snow storm, to the emergency vet. Buddy survived but it was a VERY close call.

2023 – Grover Paisley Robinson, a six month old Golden Retriever that inspired everything about the Grover in Good Boys, has a mischievous streak. He’s got it mostly under control now, but when he was still a puppy, he could swallow a random sock in seconds, which he did… One of those long white tube socks. It went down the hatch and wasn’t about to come out. We rushed to the vet before it became an obstruction requiring surgery. The vet was able to make him puke it up…and also got up a wad of strings, hair, plastic, etc. that he’d been finding and eating, which had already been forming an obstruction! Bullet dodged, we’ve only had to do this three times… Now he is happy to just hold the sock, or slowly chew it.

Point is, dogs are the most amazing companions a human being can ask for, but that doesn’t mean they won’t keep you on your toes. And it’s these close calls that really reveal just how much a part of your life they become. Losing a good boy (or girl) is one of the most painful experiences of life, and sometimes makes me wonder if that pain is worth it. But then I see another dog, smiling and happy to see me, and I know it’s not just the one dog that I love, but ALL dogs. That’s what makes me a dog person.

And that is the perspective Good Boys is written from. I might reveal some of the things dogs do to embarrass us, make us afraid, or make us want to puke, but it’s all from the unconditional love I offer dogs, and that they return. If you’re not a dog person, don’t worry. Lovers of any animals will be able to relate. But really, who can resist a Golden Retriever named Grover? In my experience, maybe 2% of the population, which strangely enough is the same percentage there is for psychopaths! 🙂 Let’s get to he book!

GOOD BOYS

Despite my love of all things dog, when my friend Alex Maddern came up with the original concept for this novel, I was doubtful it would work. How could I make a sci-fi epic featuring dogs effective? It seemed impossible, but everyone I pitched it to (including spoilers you won’t find in the description) didn’t just like they idea, they LOVED it. I was shocked by the response and then excited that something like this could not only work, but be well received by a wide audience.

When I started writing, my intention was to write a standalone story, and then move on to the other novels I had planned. But halfway through, I was so in love with the characters that I didn’t want it to end. So, Good Boys became a trilogy and I spent all of 2023 immersed in this world. Possibly the most fun I’ve ever had writing for a full year.

AUDIOBOOK:

When it came time to think about the narrator for this series, I came to the conclusion that we needed someone who not only read well, but someone who could bring this vast array of strange and hysterical characters to life. When I heard the audition from the amazing Tom Taylorson, I knew we’d found our guy. And he proved it by delivering a book that’s not only delightful to listen to, but also a perfect representation of how I imagined these characters would sound. If you’re an audiobook listener, you are in for a treat!

THE STORY:

When alien species converge on Earth, each enlisting the help of humans, only one author has the testicular fortitude to envision the madness that ensues: Jeremy Robinson.

In the serene backdrop of New Hampshire’s Franconia Notch, Micah Taylor, an ex-Army Ranger, finds solace with his loyal Golden Retriever, Grover. Their peaceful existence is suddenly shattered when a first date with his old friend, Jess Bender, takes an unexpected turn. Bright lights descend from the sky, leading them into the dark woods and a shocking discovery: the Kylonari, an advanced alien species with a special connection to Micah, here on a quest to find ‘The Lost Tribe’—a colony that vanished millennia ago.

Micah, Jess, and Grover soon find themselves in the crosshairs of the enigmatic Twilight Directorate, a covert agency hell-bent on capturing the Kylonari. As alliances are forged and galactic secrets unravel, they learn of an even graver threat: the Draun, a merciless genocidal species. They have come to Earth, have infiltrated our society, and are eager to drag humanity into the cosmos’s deadliest war.

Good Boys is a whirlwind of suspense, humor, and heart written by #1 Audible and New York Times bestselling author, Jeremy Robinson. Dive into an action-packed tale where loyalty, love, and the bonds of friendship are tested against the vast and violent mysteries of the universe.

And now is the time where I say if you like the novel, be sure to post reviews and spread the word, but this time I’m on my knees! Not only is Good Boys very special to me, but it’s also the first book in a trilogy representing my income for the next YEAR! I don’t normally go the ‘every egg in one basket’ route, but I just couldn’t resist. For Books 2 and 3 to do well, Book 1 has to do amazing. I would VERY much appreciate you guys getting the word out, and allowing me to continue chasing this dream of world domination through creativity. 🙂
