Apocalypse Machine is Coming!

COMING IN 2016!

THE HUMAN RACE STARTED THE SIXTH MASS EXTINCTION ON EARTH…

A chain of subglacial volcanoes erupt in Iceland. The melting ice floods the countryside. Poisonous gas descends on Scotland. A tsunami devastates the Norwegian coastline. An ash cloud rises into the atmosphere, blotting out the sun across Europe, ushering in a new Ice Age. Dozens of nuclear power plants, flooded by ocean water, experience meltdowns. Millions perish. Many more are displaced. All on the first day.

On the second day, a series of earthquakes moving in a straight line, reveal the presence of something massive, walking across the landscape. Concealed by a thick, radioactive ash cloud, the ‘aberration’ heads west, toward Russia.

Abraham Wright, a science writer for Modern Scientist, who wants nothing more than to be reunited with his family, finds himself at the center of the United States’ response to the crisis. Under his new title as Assistant Science Advisor to the President, Wright is sent to Europe with a team of Army Rangers, where he uncovers the truth about the ancient behemoth laying waste to the world: there have been five mass extinctions on planet Earth, and the aberration has been present at each.

On the third day, the world fights back.

And loses.

Jack is Back! The Continuum Series Continues.

Two years ago, I wrapped up a long running story arc in the Chess Team books with the novel OMEGA, but as a casualty of that storyline, King was trapped three millennia in the past, and he was made temporarily immortal. He would need to live through the ravages of history until he caught up with the team and his family in the present. I thought it would be fun to look at some of his adventures during that time with standalone novellas, showing different slices of history and King’s way of dealing with those time periods. Of course, because it’s me, he would also have to face mythological or supernatural creatures along the way. Last year I released GUARDIAN with my co-author, J. Kent Holloway. It was the first of the Jack Sigler Continuum series of adventures, and it found King in ancient Babylon, a young immortal and facing a very otherworldly threat.

Today, I’m happy to announce PATRIOT, the second adventure in the Continuum series of novellas, once again co-authored with Kent. This adventure brings you a very different King, after he’s weary from facing the world for centuries, and he’s chosen a very unique way of passing the time.

Project Hyperion is Coming, and We Need Your Fan Art!

The fourth Nemesis novel, Project Hyperion, is coming out in September and as usual, I’m including a fan art section. If you’d like your work included simply e-mail your art (all skill levels are welcome) to me at in**@je******************.com.

Make sure it is 300 dpi and doesn’t include copyrighted characters (Godzilla, Gamera, etc). All characters from the previous Nemesis books are fair game, and you can include your own characters as well, as long as there is something Nemesis related in the image. Images can be black and white, or color (color images will be grayscale in the print book, but in full color in the e-book). If you have a website or deviantart page you would like included, be sure to send that along with your full name so we can give you credit! Deadline is September 10. And to get you pumped, here is the cover for Project Hyperion!

PROJECT NEMESIS COMIC BOOK IS COMING

nemesis-banner

The amazing cover image for the PROJECT NEMESIS comic book was leaked last night and is already getting shared via social media, so I am here to confirm the rumors and supply the details. First and foremost, yes, PROJECT NEMESIS is being faithfully adapted into a 6 issue comic book series. The first issue will be released in late Sept/early Oct (I don’t have any exact date yet) and then released as a collected graphic novel. And I have a feeling this will be the first of many comics to come.

nemesis1So, who is on the team? First, the book is being published by Famous Monsters of Filmland’s new comic book imprint, American Gothic Press.  Famous Monsters has been immensely supportive of my monster fiction and our teaming up makes all kinds of monstrous sense. The interior art is being done by none other than Matt Frank himself, famed Godzilla artist and the the guy who lent his expertise to the design of Nemesis. His work has appeared in every Nemesis novel to date, and no one can draw her more authentically than Matt. Matt will also be doing covers for all six issues.

nemesis-issue1“But what about this painted cover?” you ask. “That looks more like…”

Bob Eggleton!” I blurt, unable to contain my excitement. I’ve been a fan of Bob’s ever since I snagged a copy of Who’s Afraid of Godzilla with my kids. And now I get to work with him. So cool. Bob is doing variant covers for all six issues of PROJECT NEMESIS, meaning there is a lot more amazing art to come.

As for the writer, that’s me. So while some things had to be trimmed from the story to fit the format, have no fear. Anything cut or added remains true to the story and spirit of the novel. And the additions should add a few nice surprises for those who have already read the books.

To stay up to date on the comic book’s release date and get more sneak peeks at the art, be sure to sign up for the newsletter (on the right side of the page), which will also get you a free copy of THE LAST HUNTER – DESCENT, which if I get my way, might also have a comic book series some day.

It’s hard for me to explain how pumped I am about this. Long before writing novels, I was a comic book illustrator. I majored in illustration in college, and after college worked on illustrating and writing (briefly) some indie comics. While I eventually became more writer than artist (though I still design covers for myself, as well as other authors and publishers) I never gave up the hope that my work would one day be fully realized in the comic book format. That day has finally come, and I’m amazed at the results so far. Big thanks to Matt, Bob, Phil, Ed and the rest of the gang at Famous Monsters!
